he/him, '05, personal opinions only.
hiii. it's your boy. you know me or maybe you don't...?

  • re-purposed an old journal just for posting bl drama reviews. mostly j-bl. never spoiler-free
  • i created it because i would yap to my friends too much in call, to the point it felt like too much, so i decided to journal it instead.
  • i log things on my MDL. in previous years i would comment mini-reviews / my thoughts on dramas after i finished them, so some of those will be referenced or copy-pasted to any future entries here.
  • i have my own tastes and preferences, and i'm fairly blunt about what i enjoyed and what i didn't enjoy. sometimes i try to be objective, but most of the time i let my bias slip through so like... #whatever #opinionblogging
  • i was into tokusatsu for a good period of time so i'll occasionally talk about that (infamous toku-to-bl pipeline) and i talk like i'm speaking to my friends because they're the intended audience.
  • well that's all from me. take care.

i don't really write super lengthy long reviews unless i really feel strongly about them one way or another, so this blog might slow down a bit. here's a few i've been watching/finished in the meantime, my ratings, and short reviews.
  • countdown to yes (2026) - 7/10. i finished this before happy of the end. it was simple and light-hearted. i liked minato... his earnest and patient affection was really cute. also im a sucker for photography themes so well. you already know bruh.
  • the journey to killing you (2025) - 6/10. i just did not feel strongly about this, whether it was about the plot or the characters. i liked odajima and asahi's relationship more than kataoka and odajima... there's really not much i have to say about this. it just wasn't for me, i suppose? maybe i'll tune into the second season airing right now after it's over and see how that goes. the opening song is so so good though. daito yamamoto has a pair of vocals on him!!
  • the proper way to write love (2025) - 6.5/10. my bunorange... natsuo was charming. i read the original manga ages ago. a lot of the time i was going "man, this guy is such a bad boyfriend." hiro was... well, i don't like him a lot as a character but his thoughts/development were decently portrayed. good for them!
  • punks△triangle (2025) - still watching but i'm just feeling ehhhhh about it. fujibayashi just looks so good as AE. as for nagano, well... i casually listen to GNJB but i'm not a huge fan of his acting, between this and ordinary love... talented idol though but that's just personal preference. this is a pretty run-of-the-mill bl trope/premise though the difference is that they're into punk/alt fashion.
  • ao to midori (2026) - currently airing, so it's easier to catch episodes from time-to-time. i don't have anything to say (only 2 episodes out right now) besides... ao-kun im rooting for you...! (shoma my son...)
  • you should be the one to kiss me (2026) - currently airing. i think i read the manga for this ages ago 2.0. maybe. AI used in the video editing of the opening from the get-go is... yikes!!!! i will say, the acting is decent, but we're getting off on a bad foot here.
to-watch list?
  • popular serizawa (2026) - it ended recently. i know it's pretty popular, and i watched a few episodes but just fell off since... well.. it's cute but i was a little tired of the popular/loner bl tropes so i put it on hold. i'll binge it sometime and maybe? review it. idk.
  • school trip s2 (2026) - hideyoshi kan is back at it again. i thought the first season was comically ridiculous but entertaining enough... ill wait for this to finish before i go to it
  • when it rains, it pours s2 (2026) - it'll air in november ... im on the fence about if i'll watch it because i feel like i'll get mad. but i'll try the first episode...
  • love's better the second time s2 (2026) - i like furuya robin a normal amount. and aroha... but... see above^ same reasoning.
  • fake fact lips (2026) - this finished a while ago. i have read the original work, but was just scratching my head on if i was interested enough to watch the live action.
  • monster in sheep's clothing (2026) - on digital streaming in november... a movie i am very much looking forward to, because i really liked the original work!!! i liked suzuki in kei x yaku. as for kashiwagi... well... i did not like the bl drama he starred in, but his acting looks really promising from the trailer. #IWILLBEHERENOMATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry if anyone's waiting on my duty first kiss later review... im putting it off deliberately (idk why...) it'll probably happen one day ok...? i''d also like to re-watch life in smokey blue and give that a review.

well. that's all from me. see ya!

it's been a while. i got busy with my studies and playing video games, oopsie...! and in the midst of all that, iforgot how to write a review!! help!! i remember watching the first episode when it started airing two years ago, but i got scared off by it and didn't think of watching it. fast-forward, i started watching this a day or two ago, and finished it today.

here's the synopsis: chihiro (played by beppu yurai, donbrother blue), a jobless gay man who leeches off the men he sleeps with, gets beaten to a pulp and left in the garbage dump by his one-night stand, keito. keito (sawamura rei of one n' only) comes back to pick him up again, and chihiro...? decides to go along with him while cursing him out, because he wants to sleep with him...? and things happen.

i don't think anyone is using my reviews as a guideline for watching bls... but just in case, this one is hard to watch because of its sensitive contents. content warnings: abuse, sexual assault, (child) prostitution, dubcon, homophobia, suicide, drug abuse... yeah. there's a lot of landmines in this show. i try not to go into depth about the more graphic(???) depictions. sorry for my wording in advance... this one is on the longer side. i always feel incoherent writing these...

i was thinking it was time for a review on this blog, and i remembered one i hadn't touched, but that my friend absolutely hated watching, but he watched it weekly anyway until it finished. as a joke, i brought it up in call that i would consider watching it, to which he strongly protested it, but if i were to, that we would watch it together. and we watched the first episode. and i just couldn't bear to do a second.

so, instead of my review, since i don't want to, as i quote, "put [myself] through medieval torture," here is oomf's short review on My Personal Weatherman.

i binged this last month in about one day, since it was on the shorter side (6 episodes). and then, i started working my summer job, and didn't have as much time to process it. majority of this is copy-pasted from my MDL comment that i wrote in one-sitting after i finished it. i tried inserting some extra thoughts here and there, but apologies if it's jumbled and incoherent.
a brief synopsis: kasuga yuma and hasegawa itsuki, a gay couple who signed a partnership oath certificate, agree to film a documentary of their life for 100 days. the catch is that they've long broken up before any of this was proposed.

( as always, spoilers beware. )

i finished this before i started my rewatch of "when it rains, it pours," actually! salarymen / office worker bl. it's not as fresh in my memory, but here's a review nonetheless. most of it re-posted from my comment on MDL LOL

i watched this last year when it aired, and i forgot to give it a proper rating, as well as marking it down on MDL... and when i saw it was getting a second season this year, i decided to "re"watch it (but i didn't remember anything about it from last year LMAOO). it stars some familiar faces (asahi ito / lupinred and mutou jun from m!lk.
